The 2010 Lexus GS 450h is a midsize hybrid-powered luxury sport sedan offered in a single well-equipped trim level. Though Lexus typically names its vehicles after engine displacement, it felt that “450″ was appropriate given that the hybrid’s output is equivalent to a 4.5-liter V8.

The electric motor supplements the gas engine with low-end torque during starts and offers additional power under heavy acceleration, recharging itself under braking through a process called regenerative braking. Together, the hybrid system puts out a total of 340 horsepower. The only transmission is an electronically controlled continuously varnvble transmission (CVT), which comes with three modes: Normal, Snow and Sport.

Lexus strengthens its commitment to safety by adding standard Safety Connect telematics and active front headrests to the 2010 GS 450h. Other carryover features include antilock brakes with brake assist, traction control, stability control, front and rear side-impact airbags, front knee airbags and full-length side curtain airbags.
